My wife is comming back from the Philippines today. Needless to say, I cannot concentrate long enough to write down my ideas for today’s post.

To take the easy way out, I’m going to post a poem that captures the essence of my love for my wife (yes, cheese is ooozing out of me right now).

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…”
by
Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, — I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! — and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

    Chris -

For sure, she is in love with her husband and his poem. :)

  2. Becky Said,

You are totally corny but I forgive you. Your wife is beautiful.

  3. Karl Staib - Your Work Happiness Matters Said,

Sometimes we need to just speak from the heart no matter how it sounds. A good poem has a way of reaching new corners of the brain.

Charles Bukowski is my favorite. He’s a little raw and crass, but still beautiful.

  4. jenny-up the hill Said,

The most perfect poem!! Your wife is very lovely and I’m glad you all will be back together today! I also wanted to thank you for the encouraging words about me going to nursing school. And yes…Pete is getting a signing bonus! He’s going to be working in the PICU upon getting his license in January. We have a new children’s hospital that will be opening in December. We’re both excited!

  5. Kyddryn Said,

    Love is a wonderful thing…

    Shade and Sweetwater,

  7. Joanna Said,

haha we’re memorizing this poem for english.

    “What’s Mama’s name?”
    “Babe”

    “What’s Daddy’s name?”
    “Babe”

  8. Vered Said,

Sweet… it’s good to see a marriage holding so well after years, and kids, and no doubt challenges and ups and downs.

    Gives me hope!

  9. Dette Said,

You know you just scored some major brownie points here, don’tcha?

Welcome back to the Mrs.!! :)

  10. Rach (Heart of Rachel) Said,
